Why is the world crisis atypical? The first world goes through boom and bust economic cycles on a fairly regular basis. The big difference to me is that the developing world is now a part of that. We gave them very big expectations, and yet they have unstable governments, economies where only a few people own most of the wealth, lots of corruption, and scanty financial reporting requirements. It isn't really surprising that things didn't work out. Unfortunately, we destabilized a large part of the American middle class by shipping laboring jobs abroad, and it doesn't seem likely that we'll ever get them back.

You're right, I'm not an economist. But I still have my own opinions! I don't believe in the IMF, and I think we should stop bailing out hedge funds right now. And please don't feel obligated to answer this post--I know how it is to get stuck here all day and feel like time has been squandered.
