Hey Gary, what about the MERCED chip from Intel that is expected to be released sometime in 1999 and NT 5.0 to be released to take advantage of that architecture, etc. etc. The semiconductor industry does not go to sleep, or does it?

Y2K is a software problem. this year's hardware should run year 2000 software just as well as non-year 2000 hardware. To attribute the purchase of new hardware to Y2K is completely illogical. Solving the Y2K issue should not be about hardware but software. The two topics are necessarily different issues.
