re:Intel Only 43% of Total Retail Sales in September:

maxwell, with all that market share, it's sad that AMD can't make any money. Intel, however, will post good numbers in Q3 and even better in Q4. Market share is not the critical factor which determines profitability. AMD is basically buying market share now. Things get a lot tougher when they target markets in which price is not the critcial factor. Still, I'll be riding the HYPE on this stock for a few thousands dollar profit ;-)

Maxwell, Re:Intel Only 43% of Total Retail Sales in September:

From the same article:
IDC's Hanry figures 82% of all desktop PCs sold in the US this year will use Intel microprocessors. AMD meanwhile, is likely to finish the year with a 12% share of all machines sold. And Zlotnikov sees Intel retaining 92% share of PC revenues, compared to AMD's 6%.

In terms of market share, it looks like AMD will end the year about where they began. Except they will have less money to work with.

Hi Maxwell , good post from BW oct 19 issue .
I personally cannot see anything positive from Intel's viewpoint except some wishfull thinking by Intel analysts .
I don't know where you live but up in Vancouver , stores such as Staples have converted almost completely over to AMD based PCs .
I counted 2 out of 10 PCs being Intel and the rest K6-2 .
When do you think we will see Gateway making K6-2 PCs ?
Brian

Maxwell - Re: ' On Oct. 6, chipmaker AMD wowed Wall Street by reporting a $1 million profit for its third quarter ended Sept. 27. "
On October 7, Wall Street WOWED AMD with a FOUR POINT PLUNGE in their stock price.

AMD is selling more products into the low end and made a PENNY PER SHARE.

Some profit, Maxwell.

Tune in to Intel's earnings on Tuesday.

I guarantee you Intel will post earnings more that DOUBLE AMD's earnings.
