As of DI 2.01, you can use low compression and still do individual file restores. For this reason, DI 2.01 low compression images can't be restored by DI 2.00 or earlier programs.

Your info is correct for 2.00 and earlier.

I have not yet tried the individual file restore which is reportedly available as of the 2.01 patch. As I've suggested before I think this will make DI even more useful.

Going from, memory again, my Drive Image manual is among the missing... I believe you can only restore a single file from an Image file if you did not compress the image file.
