Maurice,

the sad thing about baseball is SD taxpayers are about to be roped into paying forever another stadium that we don't need. The Padres have done a fantastic sales job. Of all the things that we San Diegans can enjoy on another beautiful Southern California day, why anyone would shave their hands, pay a fortune, fight the crowds to watch a bunch of over paid high school drop outs hit a ball with a stick is still something uniquely American that I have not been able to comprehend yet.

Maurice,

Thanks very much for the explanation. Just one follow up question. If Pantech has been working on handsets based on Qualcomm's ASICs, why can Motorola replace their ASICs with Pantech's if they can't replace them with Qualcomm's. Does Pantech make ASICs based on both Qualcomm's and Motorola's designs? As you can see, I'm still just a little bit confused. lol

You said that nobody else has succeeded. Does this mean that no other company produces CDMA ASICs? I'm not familiar with the different chips in cellular phones. Which Qualcomm product does the CDMA+ chip from VLSI compete with?

Thanks very much for helping me understand this better.

Dan

Maurice, Dan, I would add that I believe Motorola actually bought Pantech or at least a significant chunk of it. In effect, no middleman, just a back door.
