It does work according to Kaufman, Jeff -- my shorthand "pick a hi/low with max/min and set SIP to that value" was lifted from 2nd Ed, p82. [Had read him carefully in the process of understanding why you reset SAR to the extreme of the more recent two days]
-"Assume a long or short position
-if recently down and now off its lows pick long and set SIP to the low" -- and vica versus.
I can arbitrarily pick the low SIP via min(0,back,lo)
[and pick the bar, j, with
for 0 to back step -1 do
if low(j) <= min(0,back,lo) then start:= j; j:= back; endif; next j;]
The last high might be more recent but no matter.

I preach the 'don't fudge the divisor' every chance I get ;)
