Gary, to play the tax loss selling, I usually look for stocks that are down a lot and that are owned primarily by small investors.

That means stocks that are:
* low RS
* small cap stocks
* with low institutional ownership.

The market as a whole is weighted more heavily toward stocks with exactly the opposite description: large cap stocks with high institutional ownership, and these have a much higher RS.

I don't know how much the movement of the market as a whole, up or down, will impact the low RS/small cap stocks during the tax loss selling season. Any opinions?
