Michael,..Re: Louis Rukeyser's comments

Thanks for the article.

Re: Media - and hysteria-prone television anchors Can we say CNBC?

Re: Pundits - or that their coverage has been similarly
doomy during most of the past 16 historic years, during which time,
while they were repeatedly shocking ordinary people away from sound
equity investing, stocks have gone up by 1,000%.

Re: Deflation - Worldwide commodity deflation is undeniably tough on producers, whether in South African gold fields or Iowa corn fields, but falling prices and rising quality in the technology industry are likely to prove overwhelmingly positive for the world's future.

In the past 10 years, haven't we always been able to wait a year or less and get that fastest, latest technology cheaper.? Do we need PCs in the future as the net grows and information becomes more valuable?

All the above is what Mohan has been saying all along. The consumer is key and the fact that our unemployment rate is and remains at historic lows speaks more loudly than any media pundits. The media only write to sell copy and exaggerated headlines sell more copy. And buying low is still in vogue. (Unless you believe like LT that the whole planet is going back to live in caves and lug around gold bars to pay for meat) <VBG>

Regards,

Lee

Hi MichaelW,

Interesting article. Very level-headed. I especially liked when I was coming up on the following, out of the corner of my eye:

(5) Deflation ain't all bad.

My brain registered it as:

(5) DeLLflation ain't all bad.

So we have inflation and deflation which affect everyone, and Dellflation which affects the growing number of shareholders. Those left holding other paper will just be holding paper; those who held Dell's paper will be holding it on a yacht, in a mansion built on a wooded hill, or in a Corvette.

It's been a while since I last posted, so I'd like to restate my free book offer: email me your snail mail address and I'll buy you a book, Nano by Ed Regis. See amazon.com for a review. Also see these three web sites for more info about nanotech:

foresight.org The Foresight Institute
alcor.org Alcor Life Extension Foundation
zyvex.com Zyvex (company whose sole purpose is achieving nanotech)
members.xoom.com The Dell Train!

(The above is copied from my profile, but I wanted to copy it here instead of just referring people to my profile: I don't want to exclude those of you who haven't paid SI, as I believe those people cannot read the member profiles.)

Cheers,
KenB
