There is no built-in heat problem with the MXi. The heat problem comes from the fact that the clock rate target has moved up from the original design goal. Originally the core was to run at fewer clock cycles and do more per cycle. Well tweak it the other way (for MHZ) and as you know more MHZ = more heat.

It's not that the heat is amazing, it's just that it will be that much BETTER at .18.. I didn't mean to imply that heat was a "PROBLEM", rather that heat has climbed to a level where NSM/Cyrix would rather have the part on .18um.
