(Nasdaq:CUBE), announced today the appointment of Mr. Umesh Padval as president and general manager of its Semiconductor division. C-Cube's systems division -- DiviCom -- will continue to be led by Dr. Tom Lookabaugh, DiviCom's president and general manager. The two divisions as well as the finance and administration functions will continue to be led by Dr. Alexandre Balkanski, C-Cube Microsystems Inc.'s president & CEO. This structure will allow C-Cube's two divisions to focus their execution on sustained and defensible growth in the digital video marketplace. As president and general manager of C-Cube's Semiconductor division, Padval will manage all aspects of C-Cube's semiconductor business, which addresses both the communications and consumer markets for digital video. Padval joins C-Cube from VLSI Technology where he most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Digital Entertainment division. In this position, Padval managed all aspects of VLSI's set-top business, including operations management and strategic direction. Prior to this position, Padval served as senior vice president and general manager of the Computing Solutions division. Before joining VLSI, Padval worked for Advanced Micro Devices where he held a variety of marketing and engineering positions. Dr. Lookabaugh manages all aspects of C-Cube's systems division -- DiviCom. He co-founded DiviCom as vice president of research and business development in June 1993. Lookabaugh later served as senior vice president and general manager before his appointment to president and general manager in December 1997. Prior to co-founding DiviCom, Lookabaugh was executive director of research at Compression Labs Inc. (CLI).
