Dirk Meyer

Dirk Meyer is the director of engineering for AMD's K7 program. He joined AMD in 1995 from Digital Equipment Corporation where he was co-architect of the Alpha 21064 and 21264 microprocessors. He has 15 years of microprocessor design experience at AMD, Digital, and Intel, where he has been involved in the design of x86, Alpha, VAX, and embedded processors.

No you understand why the K7 is in the same class as the Alpha 21264.
Dirk Meyer title is the equivalent of Enrico Fermi in the Manhattan Project. If you don't know who Fermi is he is the one that came up with the principle of "splitting the atom".
