Joe,

Of course we will know more today, but we do know that the K7 will have better than PII performance (clock for clock). We also know that Cyrix has claimed that the Jalapeno will debut in 2000 at the PII 600 MHz equivalent performance level. We can expect the K7 to be at 700 Mhz when the Jalepeno comes out (just a guess, but I think reasonable). So, with the limited information that we have, I think it is safe to say that the K7 will be faster than the Jalapeno. The Jalapeno will probably have two advantages: cost and Intel socket compatibility. This will allow Cyrix to compete in the consumer desktop market, where margins are low.
