True, even so...not many people trade based on PR. The favorable stuff online was likely from MS-supplied or related sites. Don't doubt MS's PR machine. It is the biggest disinformation juggernaut ever devised. If MS came in 10% under predicted earnings, the PR would trumpet how well they did in comparison to other, less meaningful, quarters, and downplay the bad news.
MS is due for a fall, and it is coming rapidly. They have failed to achieve several of their biggest goals (Win98 wasn't as big as they had hoped, SQL isn't rolling out the way they'd like, MSNetwork isn't where they'd like it to be [on this last note, I have information that is deadly, since I was speaking to them 1 year after startup, and you should have seen the #'s they touted to me...in retrospect, I realized how they were trying to deceive]), and have managed to downplay the facts relevant.
