SATYAM Computer Services Ltd has posted a Rs 18.42 crore (US$4.34m) net profit on a total income of Rs 91.89 crore (US$21.65m) for the second quarter ended September 30, 1998. While net profit was up 113 per cent, total income rose by 142 per cent over the corresponding period during the previous year. The company has declared a maiden interim dividend of 12 per cent. The earnings per share works out to Rs 28.31 (on an annualised basis). At the current market price of Rs 561.20 per share (on Hyderabad Stock Exchange), the earnings are discounted by nearly 20 times.
