AL T- (I assume that you are talking about Dell and/or the Naz/Dow/SP and not the currency/bond markets)...

I believe the next few months will not be as bad as the last few months (since mid-July) concerning volatility for Dell and the Naz/Dow/SP...For a while there, the market moved 75pts. everytime a Russian politician held a press conference...We could (potentially) retest some broader market lows, but I see that as unlikely...Even more unlikely (IMO) is that Dell will see 41 again, (and Cisco 40)...I think earnings this week and tommorrow's presentation will put a floor to any drop (in Dell) and we are not far off from Nov. 12 (earnings annoucement)..

Of course, I am making some assumptions...all of which are good possibilities....(1) The Fed will cut rates in November and at least one more time...a total of at least .75 basis pts.....sending U.S. rates lower, (or maybe following rates lower..whatever) (2) No further "big news" items, ie., no overthrow in Russia...the Euro (in Jan.) will not create a disaster (3) Brazil will receive its aid, and will cut fiscal spending aggressively..supporting Latin markets (4) China will not devalue (5) Japan will continue with uneven, but steady reform....although the results will be minimal and uneven, at best, for the next year or so.......Other Asian markets will bottom, and begin to show progress by 1st of (next) year (6) No more unknown big hedge fund blowups...There are a few more, but its late (so enuff said)

Of course, Dell has always had a high beta, so I guess your question is a relative (one), but relative to the past few months, I believe there is a greater chance that Dell could hold a tighter (overall)range on a daily, weekly and monthly basis....(AND also show a more upward progression)..

Just one man's opinion...hope this helps....my best advice: Buy Dell for the long-term and hold....Dont worry about the day-to-day (price moves) if you are unsure...keep up with all company/industry news..

Good luck. Pass this on to Ralph A. if you wish...
