I think this release is very interesting, mostly because of the hub comparisons. As WJ said, I believe, the network migration will be going from hub to switch, just as with Ethernet (ie. also witness why Vixel bought Arcxel). It is very interesting seeing a switch at such a low cost. I think Roy mentioned switches not taking off until they reached that sub $1000 price per port. Did he mean "full" or the cheaper "oem" pricing?

I noticed the new 8 port MKII says that Every port can be FC-AL if it wants, which is different than the 16 port MKII, in which half of the ports do this...is this better for the NT marketplace???

thanks for any answers,
pigboy

Ed,

<<See Craig- You got your hub that you hounded Ancor for in the form of a switch. Not bad! Anything else on your wish list?>>

I'll take a switch over a hub any day, especially if the price is close. I still think they should have told me during the last conference call. <g>

Let's see... I still want a Fibre Channel to Ethernet gateway. I need to connect my ethernet servers to the Fibre Channel SAN I've been dreaming about. I'll give you a hint. It's going to have a purple Ancor MKII-8 at the center of it. <g>
