Nic,

If they really have been able to put 8 ports on a single ASIC, that would certainly catapult them to the cutting edge of Fibre Channel ASIC design. (If they weren't there already.)

I also noticed that they specifically state "approximately 500 nanosecond" latency in the press release, and "Hardware-based cut-through routing" on their web site. That confirms what my calculations showed a long time ago about the MKII. (And also refutes those who said this was impossible. <g>)

I liked the fact that they kept the multi-staging (cross-connect) capability. That means that customers can start with the MKII-8, and scale up much higher using additional 8 and 16-port switches. This is what I was talking about when I said that it was EXTREMELY important to put an Ancor product in the customer's hands. Every time they look at it, they will see the Ancor name.
