Umesh Padval
President and General Manager, Semiconductor Division

As President and General Manager of C-Cube's Semiconductor division, Mr. Padval manages all aspects of C-Cube's semiconductor business, which addresses both the communications and consumer markets for digital video. He brings more than 13 years of experience in international semiconductor engineering, sales, marketing and operations management, as well as a strong understanding of the global digital video marketplace.

Mr. Padval joins C-Cube from VLSI Technology where he most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Manager for the company's Consumer Digital Entertainment division. In this position, Mr. Padval managed all aspects of VLSI's set-top box business, including strategic direction and operations management. Prior to this role, Mr. Padval served as Senior Vice President and General Manager for VLSI's Computing Solutions Division, generating over $290 Million in revenue for fiscal year 1996. Before joining VLSI, Mr. Padval worked for Advanced Micro Devices where he held a variety of marketing and engineering positions.

Mr. Padval holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Technology from the Indian Institute in Mumbai, India; a Masters of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University; and a Masters of Science degree from Stanford University.

Mr. Padval reports directly to Alex Balkanski, President and CEO of C-Cube Microsystems.
