Dear Allen,
I want to thank you for your latest post and all of the others that I have read with great appreciation and enjoyment of your analytical mind and writing skills.
I purchased WIND at an average price of around $40.00 about 15 months ago, investing 13% of my assets in it. I bought and I have held without selling any shares in spite of what some would characterize as bad times, given the volatility of the shares prices and its lower mean, median, and modal bids during that time.
Of course, my confidence in the stock, given your analysis, remained high. I agree that this is a core stock that seems to be an endless hold. I only wish I were younger to reap more profit and to follow the story still farther into the future.
Most of all, I want to thank you and to encourage you to post periodic reviews of quarterly results and to help us to understand the larger vision which your perceptiveness and knowledge permits.
Thanks,
Don

Allen,

I think that a couple analyst still don't have WIND has a strong buy. Zachs and IBES show 4 with a strong buy, 1 with a buy, and 1 with a hold. I don't remember seeing Sheila Ennis raise her rating. Until all analysts see the light, I think you should hold all travel plans and post on this thread as often as possible :)

Seriously, with embedded computing starting to have a much higher presence in the high tech world, I would expect much more frequent company and industry news. I hope you stick around to help us comprehend its implications.

Jason

"I'm back and relaxed from my travels, or should I say “stock market travails. "

Thanks for returning with another brilliant analysis of the marketplace. I was getting worried about you for a while. You have given this thread such a wealth of insight and information, that we should be able to cruise along almost on automatic pilot for at least a few years. I'm sure you will keep us informed if you see any really significant changes in the WIND.

I bought shares of Wind River in 1993 after hearing Jerry Fiddler speak at UC Berkeley's Entrepreneur's Forum. I liked what he had to say about the inevitability of COTS ROTS replacing Roll Your Owns in the the 32 bit environment. However, I am not a professional in the field and sold my large position of 20,000 shares probably to you at 3 (6) for a loss to buy some real estate in 1994. It took your consistent and intelligent analysis to rekindle my interest in this company's prospects, and to brave the volatility. I hope to thank you for that in a couple of years.

I am curious about your travels and if you have any new insights into the larger picture of the world. I found your description of China very interesting last time you sallied forth. Would you be able to share something about your trips, be it helping rebuild a village in Chiapas or investing in Taiwan chips. Somehow, I can't imagine you lying on the beach in Thailand for two months?

Thanks, and all the best to you!

Allen - Thank you for your leadership in providing information about the opportunity that WIND offers investors. Armed with your analysis, I have happily been - and remain - invested long-term in WIND, currently the only stock I hold in quantity, as the bear gnaws at the overall market. I have no illusions about a straight trajectory, but WIND continues to show itself to be in the right position in a key market, having excellent management, and with very large upside potential.

All the best,
-David Schoenbach
