I talked with Matt Bowen of Trading Techniques yesterday. He's on his way to a Chicago futures show, and is taking the latest release of Advanced Get that reads QP2 directly.

Since S&P Volume data is hard to maintain, I do think that NYSE volume on the index would be useful.
