<<. NEC plans to add more
production lines at its Philippine factory in order to
boost output to 450,000 units per month from the
current 100,000. >>

For a product that supposedly peaked in sales last year, the above is HUGE!!!!!!! And based on the numbers, it is obvious that they ARE selling by the TONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's also obvious that bateh is not shooting from the hip, unlike someone who does.

Good job Dale, for finding this news. This only illustrates the positive side of message postings.

Zead

Bateh, what's the demand for upcoming Clik! like?

Dale - I agree that the NEC news is very positive. This would seem to contradict those who speculate that the market for Zip drives has peaked.

Do you have a link or more information on where this news came form. Thanks - great find!

This IMHO is huge......

FINALLY!! NEC STARTS REAL PRODUCTION

It means that the price points on Zip are close to or have been reached .....that seems to be the only explination as to why IOM would need more drives......"they're priced right."

Now the rate of decrease in ASP will decrease itself until the ASP stabilizes....maybe it has. But that is an increase from NEC of 350000 drives a month ...that probably represents 30-40 % increase of all zip drives sold per/month.....if the demand wasn't there they wouldn't have ramped up from 100k to 450k drives per month.

This is even bigger when you consider the associated increase in disk sales.
