>>Has anybody given any thought to the prospect of ASIA coming out of the dumps in 1999, and thus giving a nice boost to US economy in 99? Is it impossible that in 99, Global economies that have been in the slump for most of 98 will come back up?? <<

TM,

Yes, I give it quite a bit of thought.

If Asia comes out of the dumps that would be extremely
beneficial for COMS and the rest of the market.

Lately, the US $ has gone down and IMO has
helped HK, China and will help S.Korea. I don't think
Japan likes it, but I think it may be motivating them
to make changes to help them get out of their Bank woes
which are hindering the entire world.

One could go on and on about this.

I think that even if E.Asia doesn't get out of the dump,
US companies will adjust, become more productive, and
the earnings will eventually do better. But, if E.Asia
gets strong again, it would be unbelievable how profitable
businesses (hi-tech) would get - JMO.
