Lisa: I think he meant that you just delete that ONE shortcut, the one that is causing IE to launch automatically with Windows. Check the properties of that one, as he suggested. Maybe the properties can be edited? So it can be there but not an auto-startup.

Lisa .. Re IE

Not from the startup menu .. from the startup subdirectory.

windows\start menu\programs\StartUp

You can move the icon from there to you desktop. That way you will be able to access it but it won't fire up when you start up your machine.

Hope that helps

Gersh

Lisa: If you don't want it to auto launch when Window Opens, you have to do one of two things.

1) Delete the shortcut.
2) Drag it to another folder.

I suggest you create a folder called StartUp Disabled and locate it in the same folder as your StartUp folder. Drag any shortcuts you do not want launching programs when you startup Windows into it! That way you do not have to delete them and you will always know where they are!

Then if you feel you made a mistake. You can always drag them back into to the StartUp folder.

Note if you do not want Netscape launching when you start Windows, and do not have an Icon on your desktop. Drag the startup icon in the StartUp folder to your desktop and use it there by clicking on it to launch Netscape!

EDIT: No need to drag the IE icon to the desktop as Windows has a permanent icon there for IE!

LG
