Assuming you are using IE 4:
* Menu: View, Internet Options.
* Programs tab.
* At the bottom of the tab there is the default browser checkbox.

Hope this helps,
Dipan.

Got it!!

start by going into the icon called "my computer"
then go into the "C" drive
then go into the "windows" folder
then go into the "start menu" folder
then go into the "programs" folder
then go into the "StartUp" folder

each folder is inside the other in the order that I gave.

Once you have the "StartUp" folder open you can drag the IE icon to your desktop for future use. At that time you won't have it pop up when you start your machine.

Lisa--

Have you tried EDIT/Preferences. that should take you to a menu where you can specify your start or home page.

LOL.

Does Netscape have a setting to check if it is the default browser like IE does? IE has it under View/Internet Options/Programs at the bottom.

If you can set the default check on Netscape, when it runs, it will see that IE is the default and ask you if you would like Netscape as the default.

See if this works.

The default browser used for each file type is controlled by the "file associations" for each file type, similar to Macintosh "resource forks". You access these through the following:
Start, Open, View, Options, File-Types.

The "easier" way to change these is to reinstall the preferred browser using the advanced set-up and set it as the default browser. Just like Macintosh resource forks, the file types have to be associated with some program, you have to choose one browser or another as default.

Hi Lisa.

OT

Thought I'd let you know.

I looked at your profile and my browser slowed way down.
Closed out browser .. logged off the internet, restarted .. still slow.
Rebooted my computer and low and behold that little screen popped up to log me into the net.
Anything JAVA stopped working.
Had to uninstall IE then download it and install again.

Got everything back, but ..

Anyway .. it may have been a coincidence, but I thought I'd pass it along.
