Analysis:

Do you recall the textbook logic: If A can cause B and B can cause C, then A can cause C.

Recasting the textbook logic using the issues in Rocky's quote we have:

If bad sales may cause bloated inventory and bloated inventory may cause reduced prices, then bad sales may cause reduced prices.

Now consider Rocky's logic:

One vendor has offered reduced prices. Therefore, sales must be bad.

That is, If C, then A.
