IR reports that this has been the plan for a long time and the right man finally came along. I have heard many time from multiple sources, since late last year, that the search was on for someone to take on the Semi side of the biz. Could be just another big salary on the books, but then why not just pick any one of their buddies? They took a long time to find this person and it doesn't appear that they just took the first warm body to come along. It will take a year to see what effect this guy has. Now some food for thought: At VLSI he was in charge of the settop chips? Where are VLSI's wins in the settop chip market at?
