Bob: RE: <Y2K>

You will soon see newly required SEC disclosures in Forms 10Q and 10K that show more detailed disclosures about individual company Y2K status, costs, steps being taken, and estimated completion dates (or noncompletion if applicable). This will provide interested parties will more objective information to rely upon, rather than scaremonders trying to hype their fear books.

Nice article Wally.

From my own personal experience--one of my jobs is in a hospital where 90% of the 100 desk top units are NOT y2k compatible and, hence, will freak out the network--there should be a demand for computer equipment. What is interesting and illuminating from the article is that the y2k equipment demand will be at the low end; and, leading edge stuff will likely languish. This is clearly the case with my hospital--the computer technology budget this year is almost exclusively devoted to the purchase of low end y2k compatible boxes.

Bob,

Re: Y2K - it never left.

But as Pete alluded to, there continues to be so much hype - mixed in with the facts/news - that it's still hard to separate the wheat from the chaff on Y2K.

Part of the problem may be the media - they give so much coverage to doomsday reports, that the reactions range from one extreme to the other (i.e., no reaction to panic).

Take care - Wally
