ot ot ot Beatniks and Hippies Now wait a minute, the Beat Generation was before the Hippies. Believe or not Charles Kuralt of "On The Road" fame was a part of the Greenwich Village scene as a poet. The link between the two is Jack Kerouac, IMHO. Also, some of the best Jazz came from the same time period as the Beatniks such as; Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Mulligan, etc etc. Also, Miles Davis transcended the two periods with Jazz Fusion (Fusion of Rock and Jazz.)
