XL Vision Forms Company to Provide Security Solutions to Healthcare Industry Protecting Computerized Patient Information First Commercial Application

SEBASTIAN, Fla., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- XL Vision, Inc., a Safeguard Scientifics, Inc. (NYSE: SFE - news) and TL Ventures partnership company, today announced the formation of Integrated Visions, a solutions development and consulting firm that provides industry-specific identification and authentication products and services to monitor and control access to confidential electronic patient information. Initial development efforts are focused on delivering tailored security solutions for protecting clinical data and health information management systems.

XL Vision has adopted a technology incubator business model through which it identifies and devises solutions to previously insolvable problems. XL Vision then conducts extensive market research to determine the commercial potential of resulting products and technologies and forms a company to bring them to market. Companies launched and spun out by XL Vision include XL Computing, ChromaVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: CVSN - news), eMERGE Vision Systems and Who? Vision Systems, Inc.

Integrated Visions provides biometric security solutions based on Privacy Curtain(TM), an authentication and identification platform developed in partnership with the Mayo Clinic and distributed through best-in-class healthcare application software developers and value-added resellers. The company acquired the healthcare systems Division of The National Registry Inc. (NRI) and has assimilated NRI's product line and customer base.

Integrated Visions is demonstrating Privacy Curtain publicly this week at the Microsoft Healthcare Users Group, Inc. (MS-HUG) Conference in Orlando, Fla. where it has been selected as a finalist for the Microsoft Industry Solutions Award for Healthcare in the Clinical/Patient Information Systems category.

Notable current contracts are network and medical records access projects at the Mayo Clinics in Jacksonville, Fla. and Scottsdale, Ariz. and Scott and White Medical Center, a multi-specialty clinic affiliated with Texas A&M Medical School.

bob - Cone's going to finish off those Indians tonight!

I think NRID is going to turn around soon. I think they are going to have a good quarter. The college funds and other family $ has been in this stock for a long time.

Best wishes,

:)
