Andres you obviously don't know what blackmail is. Blackmail is when one catches somebody in the act of an illegal or embarrassing activity and threatens them with disclosure unless payment is made. Or use of unfair pressure, intimidation for pecuniary gain. Which is an act more in keeping with L M Ericsson's efforts than QUALCOMM.

To tell somebody you won't do something for them unless payment or other consideration of a certain type or level is made is not blackmail. QUALCOMM owns the property. It is theirs to dispose of as they see fit. To whomsoever they wish to deal with. If they set certain requirements on the use of that property, that is normal ownership of private property behaviour. It is not threatening, blackmail or any other bad behaviour.

Tero is a master of English now that I have given him 2 years teaching. I'm sure he would be able to understand the difference between a commercial transaction and blackmail. If L M Ericsson and the other drooling CDMA wannabes don't like the offer from QUALCOMM, they can go back to GSM and make it send video over wireless. Good luck to them. Or they can invent their own CDMA without infringing on QUALCOMM's property. Good luck to them on that one, they'll need it.

Maurice

PS: Incidentally Tero, I was interested to see that Finland has the highest suicide rate in the world. Maybe it was youth suicide. Is that right? Apparently New Zealand is second. Nice to have something in common besides cdmaOne.

Andres:

How would you comment this Qualcomm's blackmail

They invested the money in the R&D, why shouldn't they be reimbursed for their labors?
