thanks, anthony. I was talking about the outlook management offered at the last qurter's report i.e. Q2.

Pfe is my life time holding so if it pulls back signficantly i could just add more and sell something else that is up.

Anthony, notice the following sentence in the report.

>>It must be
emphasized that diluted earnings-per-share growth for the quarter was substantially and negatively affected (6
percentage points) by an unusually low tax rate for the same period last year, when the company lowered its estimate
of its effective tax rate for the full year.

On a pro-forma basis, reflecting last year's business segments and tax rate, third-quarter 1998 diluted earnings per
share excluding divestiture gains and unusual and non-recurring items would have been $.56. This includes last
year's third-quarter MTG contribution from operations ($.02) and uses the lower effective tax rate of the third-quarter
of 1997 ($.03).

Plus, when the international sales of Viagra kick in, and the negative news subside, things will be back to normal. I am waiting for bottom fishing soon....

Anthony, How do you reconcile the positive tone of the press release with the negative street reaction? WC Steere was almost giddy with pride ("Our prospects have never been brighter"), and didn't sound like a man willing to apologize for increasing revenue by 21% and income by 134% over last year. But I'll bet there'll be a lot of shorting going on tomorrow morning, and the bloom may be off the rose for a quarter or two.
