Yes and no. You're limited to 120 days, more or less. You can get more of a return of you limit the search, plus the list won't be filled with private messages.

For example....

My messages only: user726949
techstocks.com

Limit that search to this thread: user726949 subject16294
techstocks.com

Limit it more, to only messages with the word "okay": user726949 subject16294 okay
techstocks.com

This thread, any user, messages woth "okay": subject16294 okay
techstocks.com

jbe, your "to/from" boxes hold a specified limit (80 messages I think). Beyond that, you'll have to hunt. If the message you're seeking was written within the past 120 days, you can use the "Posts by this Person" feature found in the search box of your SI profile page. Beyond 120 days, you're on your own.
