F.,

The questions that Rick Hill chose not to answer in the conference call related to what products were sold in what region. i.e. - information that would lead AMAT direct to the prospect's door.

While it's likely that AMAT already knows every chipmaker that's even remotely contemplating spending a $ on equipment, that's no region for NVLS to help AMAT's sales force. ... and the information divulged is enough to get a reasonable approximation of the orders.

e.g. - How many times in the past 4 months has AMAT reported reduced expectations? What value should an investor place on a precise estimate from any company.

Re Teradyne: They don't compete with AMAT. Yet!!! Wait until the gorilla decides to take on the back end as well. Then, find out how much TER wants to divulge to AMAT's sales force during a down turn.

In any case, what you or I think won't make any difference one way or the other. But I do empathize with Rick Hill's position much more than someone with his 100 NVLS shares wanting the order prospect book made public.

No hard feelings,
Ian.
