Kash, you really ought to be more realistic here:

<Faster bus 200Mhz vs 100Mhz for Intel.>

Big deal, Intel's Camino chipset will probably have a 200 MHz front-side bus since it's going to support RDRAM. That should be released near the K7 time frame.

<8 Meg L2 cache vs 1Mb for Intel.>

Give me a break. The first K7 isn't going to go gung-ho with a full 8 MB of cache. Most likely, AMD will first introduce a 512K L2 cache, then a 1MB L2 cache in the next quarter, just like Intel and Xeon.

<Awesome FPU compared to Xeons best.>

Surely you have the benchmarks to prove this, no?

<A fully loaded 500 Mhz K7 system with 8Mb cache will blow away a 1Mb Xeon at same speeds. Oh and it will cost a whole lot less too.

The design is clearly awesome. Wether they can build 'em and ship 'em is the only question.

AMD now has a superior architecture than anything that Intel has forecast or announced for 99.>

I'll let Paul respond to all these claims.

Is this for real or just wishful thinking. I haven't been following
things closely so this is news to me. When is it supposed to be out?
Where is 200Mhz dram going to come from, how can it be cheaper
with 8 Meg L2 cache? The cache will, IMO, have to run a lot faster than 200 Mhz - say 400 Mhz - that's probably going to be a very expensive piece.

Sounds far-fetched to me.

Kash-Mouth - Re: "A fully loaded 500 Mhz K7 system with 8Mb cache will blow away a 1Mb Xeon at same speeds "

No it won't.

The XEONS are faster.

Cacades will be EVEN FASTER.

Cascades will BLOW AWAY the K7 and Cascades systems will cost MORE and generate MORE income for Intel.

Everybody but you knows this.

Why don't you know it?

Kash-Poor - re: "You should be very worried."

With AMD at $15, you should be worried.

Nobody else seems to be.

Re: "K7 looks pretty good doesn't it."

You mean the K7 foils look pretty good. Nobody saw a K7

Re: "Faster bus 200Mhz vs 100Mhz for Intel. 8 Meg L2 cache vs 1Mb for Intel. "

Intel is currently shipping Xeons with 1 Meg L2 cache, and HP processors with 1.5 Meg ON DIE!!! AMD is flopping foils.

RE: "Awesome FPU compared to Xeons best."

No benchmarks but nice looking foils.

Re: "A fully loaded 500 Mhz K7 system with 8Mb cache will blow away a 1Mb Xeon at same speeds. Oh and it will cost a whole lot less too."

Xeons are shipping and K7s are vapor. Come back when you have a product and compare it to Intel's products then.

Re: "The design is clearly awesome. Wether they can build 'em and ship 'em is the only question."

The foils are nice, no doubt. Intel is selling silicon today, not just foils.

Re: "AMD now has a superior architecture than anything that Intel has forecast or announced for 99."

No, today they just have nice foils.
