Watching the Rivera show. Doing an hour on improprieties of Starr's Inquisition. This witch, Ann Coulter, looks like she is also involved in the entrapment of the Prez. She will be an easy one to crack. Looking forward to the Investigation of the Investigator along with all his cronies. What abuse of power. Starr also has the distinction of being the most investigated OIC in history. L

When the economy is perceived to be doing poorly, the President is thrown out. Les, that's the conventional wisdom. And to a very large extent I agree. But I believe most Americans fear extremes. When they look at the Democrats these days, they see mostly ambitious Yuppie mediocrites. When they look at the Republicans, they can't help but see the Christian right. I believe the atmosphere of intolerance they propogate frightens Americans. Observe the outcry over the Matthew Shepard murder. Front page news all over the country. By comparing gays to pedophiles, as I believe Sen. Trent Lott did earlier this year, Republicans contribute to such acts of violence (I know the conservatives here might bash me for saying that. please be gentle) as well as their own unelectability on a national level.
