<Intel>Improved performance due to rebound in PC sales.

Greg:

Excerpts from San Jose Mercury News.

Much of Intel's improved performance was attributed to a rebound in PC sales, and the fact that PC manufacturers had virtually eliminated the inventory problems that had slowed PC sales in the first half of the year.

But Intel president and CEO Craig Barrett also noted that sales of the company's other semiconductor products were also growing.

Other factors that impacted Intel's performance were the elimination of 2,000 jobs over the past 6 months, and an increase in gross margins.

Intel said it anticipated that sales for the fourth quarter would again be an estimated $6.7 billion. although the company hasn't indicated what it expects profits to be.
