Buckster,

I'm merely suggesting that ALA is very focused on breaking into US carrier accounts. That's their main goal - perhaps their only goal. Whatever it takes them to get there they will do with one exception ALA however will not give ASND exposure to ALA customers overseas ... at least not in any major way. Yes, they will throw Mory a bone now and then but that's it.

It appears that ALA is suggesting that they will sell ASND router cards inside ALA switches in effect relegating ASND to a manufacturing role. In return (and yes I'm only guessing) ALA will gain access into ASDN accounts. But, isn't it strange that ALA is delivering the switch and ASND the router...this doesn't seem like "best of breed" to me. Anyway, you know more about that than I do... Your the technical expert on the thread. Of course the key question is - now what - since ALA just purchased Packet Engines.

This comment (educated guess lets call it) is only based on my experience with ALA and Philips - two french companies I've had the "pleasure" of working on relationships with.

Oh, and believe me I'm not bitter at all about ALA and CSCO not doing business. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm actually very happy CSCO decided to move down a different path. I don't see (honestly) ALA as a strong partner which will help CSCO in their quest to penetrate the carrier space in a more significant way. This is clearly where CSCO would like to go. I'm merely posted my thoughts about ASND/ALA in response to a comment which stated that ASND was "stealing" this partner away from CISCO or that CSCO couldn't make it work. Rather this is more like ASND picking up CSCO droppings. *sorry* Therefore I question the significance and help ASND will get from ALA.... again based upon experience.
