Patrick,
Hi!!!

RE: All of this coming through the Dell Website.....

" Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers, speaking at Gartner Group's Symposium ITxpo 98 conference in Orlando, Fla., said current projections for the growth of electronic commerce were "way too conservative ... by about five to tenfold."

Not all of it......some might still not understand... :o)

Best, Kemble

Pat <<However, he suggested the company may be able to offset any slowdown in the corporate equipment market by the current upswing in business to phone service providers around the globe.>>

another underestimated market - business to phone service. TI estimated that ADSL switches alone would amount to $10 billion in sales. some telephone companies are throwing money at the ADSL market to get there first.

PC makers directly benefit from the growing ADSL business as one needs a PC to access the phone/ADSL switching. long distance costs are estimated to be cut by 1/2 utilizing ADSL. Another cost cutting measure for companies

the main use of ADSL is not faster access - it's the telephone hookup through the PC (greater bandwidth needs faster access. interestingly, Europe's phone companies want to get there first
