Here's a prediction.

AMD will "DELAY" the K7 introduction until late 1999/2000 while it rearchitects the K7 to employ ON CHIP L2 cache.

This, of course, will be AFTER AMD verifies that the current K7 will not be competitive with Intel's Cascades and Coppermine chips that will be hitting the streets in mid to late 1999.

Effectively, the K7 may well repeat the debacle of the K5 - since it appears BOTH were designed by the Austin-City-Limits group.
