RE: Stampede News Release dated October 13, 1998

Apparent misconception regarding the Stampede Bcat et al 7-25-20-3 W5M test operation necessitates the following clarification:

As a result of the amount of specialized equipment and very restrictive parameters necessitated in testing a highly sour gas environment such as the Devonian Crossfield zone and to ensure testing is conducted adequately in the indicated 45 foot gas zone at the top of the Crossfield in the Stampede Bcat et al 7-25-20-3 W5M well, the necessary time frame for this test and associated operations would be a minimum of 17 days and with a successful test it would be extended to 30 days or more.

It would not be economically prudent nor is it industry practice to conduct this type of extensive testing with a large drilling rig. The cost differential in using such a rig compared to a specialized smaller service rig for the job is considerable.

A 13.6 metre (45 feet) gas zone equates to a 41/2 story building in vertical height.

It is planned to have the drilling rig currently on the 7-25 well site moved to the new deepening/drilling operation at the offset 11-12 well site, adjacent to the Stampede Bcat et al Hartell 4-13-19-2 W5M discovery well.

Any questions please call P. de Bruycker.
