For the last few years the semiconductor industry as a whole has been increasing wafer size to get more product in the same amount of clean room. To use a larger wafer they have to buy new equipment. There is more of a trend to try real hard to reduce feature size in order to get more product from the same machines. The net result is that they do not have to buy new equipment.
