John Federman Named CEO For ADSmart; Former PC Week Publisher to Build Upon and Leverage Ad Network Success

ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 1998--ADSmart, an Internet advertising network and wholly-owned subsidiary of CMGI (NASDAQ:CMGI), today named John Federman, publisher of PC Week, Ziff-Davis, Inc., to the post of chief executive officer. As CEO, Mr. Federman will spearhead the further growth of ADSmart as it moves closer to its goal of becoming the leading interactive Ad Network.

Prior to joining ADSmart, Mr. Federman was Publisher at PC Week, Ziff-Davis, Inc., ranked as the number one trade journal in the World. While at PC Week, Mr. Federman was responsible for managing every aspect of the publication's operations.

Federman's 12-year career with Ziff-Davis started at Digital Review, where he was in the Marketing Department and then in sales as a regional manager. He was promoted to marketing director of PC Week in 1989 and was an essential part of the publication's growth and success. Federman launched PC Week's innovative demographic efforts, including the hugely successful Netweek Demographic edition. He was then promoted to east coast ad director of Corporate Computing, returning to PC Week as the east coast associate publisher. Federman's success continued as he was promoted to National associate publisher at PC Week and then to Publisher, overseeing all aspects of the successful publication.
