Hello Tunica, I agree and I also think pfe will retrench from here (probably bounce around $87-95) for the next several months. But the reason PFE sells for a high PE is simple. Economies grow because of spending. Consider PFE's share price the economy, then consider that the largest population group EVER to walk the planet are between the ages of 40-57. That is 17 years of tremendous birth rates. This is a generation SO LARGE that they will create an unbelievable demand for pharmaceuticals as they age. This group has just begun to start getting arthritis, high blood pressure, feel the effects of diabetes, impotence, hair loss, ect. ect.
I don't trade pfizer. I am long it and have been for 22 years. I have been rewarded handsomely for holding. But I truly feel that with the demographics today the best is yet to come. Think about it, this generation is huge and will be buying drugs in increasing amounts for the next 20 years. Our generation is the most health conscious ever to exist. The cost effectiveness of preventing serious surgery by treating with drugs to prevent the need (as much as possible) will become the doctrine of health care in the coming decades. Why Pfe instead of Merck ? They are more aggressive ! MarkC.
