Joe,

Re: Mary

Mary follows the law regarding purification with a sin offering in
Luke 2:22 obeying the command found in Leviticus 12:2
If Mary was sinless she would not have been required to do so.

Re: seeking signs

Matthew 12
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it....

How many millions are thronging to seek after signs from bleeding statues, images of Mary on traffic signs, donut shops, etc.
Good grief! The only fitting thing depicted in the idols of Mary is the depiction of her crying. Which she would when thinking of how people are worshipping her contrary to God's word.

Jesus did not show special treatment for His mother during His ministry....
Matthew 12:46-50 He ignored a request to go out to her with His brothers when requested
John 2:4 Mary makes a comment to Him and His first response is "Woman, what have I to do with thee?
Not exactly a way for any son to address his mother unless the Lord was thinking of the future treatment of people wrongfully idolizing her.

Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary intercedes on peoples behalf for sin.....
But the bible says..."Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Romans 8:34

In Christ,
John
