lisa: The Dow normally reaches some sort of high when it rallies up near
or just above the top of that band.

When using envelopes, one must realize that in extreme market moves, these bands are of little use!

Bands are useful for predicting moving trading ranges when the market is NOT so volatile!

I am very surprised Favors is relying on this indicator at this time and especially publishing it! If it works it will be luck! JMHO

Lisa:

I'm looking at the same band. The Dow hasn't touched the upper band since 7/17/98. Favors said the Dow was 20 points away from touching the top band on Monday. Still hasn't touched it.

I think what Favors is saying is that during the bull market dips near or below the lower band provided good buying opportunities, selling on rises near or above the upper band will provide good selling opportunities now.
