And now, my rant of the day: WTF is STB doing? Look at their TNT add in NOV PC Gamer...they have 2 great quotes, one from some dumbass at CGW (a mag I usually enjoy) and another from...*gulp* RivaZone (great...for the ultimate in objectivity) I remember reading CGW's preview of TNT and firing off a letter about how they didn't have final silicon, etc. Still, they fell for nVidia's tricks, and became an unknowing shill for them. Here is the quote from the add, "Imagine Quake II at 1600x1200 at over 30 fps. Imagine DeathMatch Q2 at 1600x1200- you can see the other guy before he sees you. The TNT will likely be the hot ticket in AGP cards in the near future." *UGH* Yeah, you better do some serious imagining. Run a crusher demo on Q2 at 16x12, show me 30 fps, and I will trade my TDFX stock for an IOU from nVidia... I won't post the RivaZone quote... In other news, the magazine has a TNT add on the backcover, a 2 page spread for the Velocity 4400, a 1 page deal for the Canopus Spectra, a 1 page deal for the Rage Fury (ATI), 2 pages for the DIMD Fusion and a 2 page monkey-a-thon from TDFX. This ad campaign sucks. Period. Maybe if the monkeys talked, like the one on the left goes, "nVidia" and the other one says "Sucks". Lastly, there is a disturbing trend present in the mag...the little TDFX logo is HARD TO FIND. Open the mag, Heavy Gear 2 ad- no TDFX logo (and ATVI was supposed to be a "Strategic partner" with us), next page, Blood 2- nada. Accolade, which used to have a really big TDFX logo in some of their ads....now has no TDFX logo, and on and on. Folks, this isn't how branding is supposed to work. These guys are supposed to be THRILLED to put our logo on the page... BUT... 1 piece of good news; the Diablo 2 team makes some very nice comments about supporting V2 hardware. But they may also support other 3d devices...
