The slowdown in IT spending is already happening. Most corporations, healthcare organizations and the government sector, etc. are allocating nearly all of their available resources and then some to the Y2K compliance effort. These organizations are replacing non compliant PC's while cutting back on new technology initiatives such as networking gear and virtually everything else that is non mission critical. The Gartner Group and others have been warning about this scenario for the past several months and predict Y2K issues will extend beyond January 2000. Once that problem is solved there is bright light at the end of the tunnel.
