Regarding the GSN by GENROCCO -- I attended a lecture at the San Diego SuperComputer Center last night, and with ever bigger, more powerful machines coming on-line, they say the biggest challenge will be moving large amounts of data in a short amount of time. The next "supercomputer" will be made by IBM (not Cray) and it will be called the "TERAFLOPS". It will contain over 1,000 processors. SDSC (at UCSD) will get the first one. The comparison between gigabytes and teraflops was explained, and I didn't take notes, but teraflops is millions more bits of data than gigabytes. (Maybe someone can explain that better.)
