Mmeggs: I agreed with you up to this point: the area you want to build your fence on is on my property How about "..on property that I alledge is mine.." Remember, this is not narrowband stuff, but wideband stuff. Actually, I completely disagree with your post. The ETSI has asked the Q to license. I expect the Q not to. Why should they? What has the ETSI given to the Q? Nothing. However, Ericsson alledges that they have the IP. No one knows the extent of the coverage of Ericsson's patents, no one will know unless it goes to court and we see the outcome. I'm willing to let you build it, but I want a reasonable return for letting you use my property. AND take a portion of my house. Remember, it really isn't about royalties, but convergence of the standard. One question, why is it MY dog? <g> I can go ahead and build my shed, knowing good and well it is on my property and I've got every right to build it True, but the use is limited. Remember, CDMA2000 will not be sold in Europe and parts of Asia. eventually giving cheap upgrades to cdma2000. Actually, I wouldn't think it is cheap. dave
