Canadians staying afloat - for now, CIBC Poll
newswire.ca

''Investor uncertainty is clearly evident in the increased number of
mutual fund holders who have indicated they might be inclined to redeem their
funds. We are concerned about knee-jerk reactions, particularly in the context
of long-term financial planning.''
Both long-term investors and short-term investors say they would respond
to significant declines in mutual funds by selling all or some of their
portfolio. Fifty-two per cent of respondents who classify themselves as
long-term investors indicated that they would sell some or all of their mutual
funds if they declined in value by 20 per cent. Thirty-three per cent of
short-term investors -- or ''quick sellers'' -- say they would sell their
funds if their value declined by the same percentage.
